Technavio
Announces the Publication of its Research Report Global Motor Starters Market
2016-2020
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global motor starters market: ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell Automation, and Siemens.
Other prominent vendors in the market are: Allied Motion Technologies, ARC Systems, Emerson Electric, Franklin Electric, Fuji Electric, Huali, IMO precision Controls, Schneider Electric, TECO-Westinghouse, Toshiba, WEG, and Yaskawa.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavios team said: One of latest trends in the market is rise in adoption of motor control centers. The global MCC market was valued at $4.36 billion in 2014 and is likely to reach $5.72 billion by 2019, growing at a CAGR of 5.58%. The MCC market is driven by the increased level of automation across industries. The increase in labor wages, rising competition, and strict safety and efficiency standards have led industries to completely automate their operations, thereby driving the demand for MCCs. These centers not only start and stop motors but also provide voltage and current metering, earthing, and thermal protection. The hassle-free installation and the demand for intelligent MCCs are expected to cross the demand for conventional MCCs by 2026 due to the higher capability to reduce maintenance costs and machine downtime, and provide higher safety standards.

According to
the report, one of the primary drivers in the market is need to reduce power
consumption and increase motor efficiency. The rising cost of energy is a major
concern worldwide. The reduction in energy consumption is a key to increase the
profit margins of businesses in today's competitive world. We estimate that
approximately 63% of industrial energy is used by electric motors, thus making
them the obvious reason for concern across many industries. The consumption of
energy can be made efficient in two ways making the motors more efficient or
by controlling the speed at which they run. However, the most effective method
of reducing the environmental impact of motors is through controlling the speed
of the motor through motor starters.
Further, the report states that one major challenge in the market is threat of low-cost and counterfeit products. End-users seeking huge consignments of goods with standard design parameters prefer low-priced Asian products because they bring down investments considerably. However, end-users that do not compromise on the quality of motor starters prefer recognized European manufacturers. Also, certain manufacturers are bringing counterfeit products that are packaged like genuine articles in a bid to illegally capture the market share.
The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.

About Motor Starters
The high starting current can damage the internal circuit of the armature winding of a motor. Therefore, a starter is used to limit the starting current of the motor. The starting time of a motor depends on inertia, load, and torque. As the starting current is connected to the mains and is always higher than the rated operational current of the motor, an excessively long starting or braking time will cause an overload and result in wear and tear. This can also cause electromechanical stress or damage the motor isolation. Motor starters protect motor systems and prevent overloads and short circuits. Motor starters increase the reliability of applications and processes due to their quick response time, i.e., switching off the motor within milliseconds of a short circuit, thus preventing motor damage.
Technavios analysts forecast the global motor starters market to grow at a CAGR of 4.95% during the period 2016-2020.
