Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global water-soluble fertilizers market: Agrium, Haifa, PotashCorp, Mosaic, and Yara International

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Acron Group, Arab Fertilizers & Chemicals, Belaruskali, CF Industries Holdings, EuroChem, ICL, IFFCO, Intrepid Potash, K+S AG, Migao Corporation, Monsanto, Office Chérifien des Phosphates, Sinochem Group, Sinofert Holdings, Sapec Group, United Chemical Company, and Vale

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The global agriculture industry has witnessed substantial changes in terms of improvements in farming techniques, crop protection, drip irrigation, and soil management. Growing use of pesticides, fertilizers, GM technology, and other advanced techniques help in enhancing the crop yields. Nevertheless, these agrochemicals have been noted to have a negative impact on the environment and human health. In addition, soil biology is impacted owing to the overuse of crop protection chemicals by declining the potential productivity.”

According to the report, the rise in urbanization, population growth, industrialization, and energy demand, has augmented the conversion of cropland to other industrial and domestic uses. In 1950, the available arable land was more than the global population. In 1990, the population increased more than the availability of arable land, and ever since it has been increasing at a rapid pace. China lost more than 14.9 million hectares of arable land from 1979 to 1995. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN), developing economies including India and China require an additional 120 million hectares of land to fulfil the food needs of their consumers by 2030. Arable lands are also being wasted owing to deforestation and unsuitable agricultural practices, which is leading to the loss of production yield. Sustainable development and the use of agrochemicals, including fertilizers and pesticides is likely to decrease the crop productivity and land wastage.
Further, the report states that organic farming is considered to be non-hazardous to the ecosystem because it does not involve any kind of synthetic inputs like synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, additives, and genetically modified (GM) seeds. These synthetic inputs are replaced with site-specific management practices that are used to maintain and increase the soil fertility and prevent the crop from infestation by pests and other diseases.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.

About Water-soluble Fertilizers

Water-soluble fertilizers are applied to the crops during irrigation. The major advantage of using them is that farmers can regulate the concentrations of the nutrients according to the needs of a particular crop. Farmers often choose a fertilizer concentration and apply it at every watering. This process is generally known as fertigation or continuous liquid feeding (CLF).

Technavio’s analysts forecast the global water-soluble fertilizers market to grow at a CAGR of 5.25% during the period 2016-2020.
